Join Us For The Applied Underwriters Executive Golf Invitational!

This exclusive invitational is part of a national series of amateur golf tournaments and is the largest corporately sponsored amateur charity golf event in the world! The winners of this tournament will be invited to compete in the National Finals to be held at Big Cedar Lodge near Branson, Missouri!

What is The Applied Underwriters Invitational?

The Invitational will raise over $9 million for charity this year and has raised well over $250 million for charity over the life of the program. The Invitational provides players an opportunity to compete in a top charity event in Golf. Members of the winning team will receive Cobra King LTDx Drivers as well as the opportunity to play in the National Finals at Big Cedar Lodge with other tournament winners. Other top teams will win prizes from our national sponsors - Cobra Puma Golf, Under Armour Eyewear, Blank Label, Bridgestone Golf, and The Experience - St. Andrews.

Golfers of all skill levels are encouraged to participate in this nationwide scramble series. Participants can form their own team or be placed with other participants. Teams must consist of four amateur players whose combined USGA Handicap Index total 43.0 strokes or more. Only one member of a team may have a USGA Handicap Index of 8.0 or less. However, all four players may have USGA Handicap Indexes higher than 8.0. These team formation requirements provide everyone with a chance to win.

When is The Applied Underwriters and what time does it begin?

The Invitational will be held on Monday, October 9th at Bolingbrook Golf Club - 2001 Rodeo Drive, Bolingbrook. Registration begins at 8:30am and the shotgun start is at 10:00am. Please note that this is a rain or shine event.

Why is this Invitational important?

In Illinois, one in seven households spend more than half of their income on housing. Housing is more than just a roof over somebody's head. Decent affordable housing provides stability for families and children. Owning a home provides a family with a sense of dignity and pride. Good housing contributes greatly to thriving communities. Housing is a catalyst for civic involvement and a stimulus for community based organizations. Safe homes and neighborhoods help to build social stability and security.

Who is our beneficiary?

On September 23, 2020 James V. Smith, passed away. James left behind his wife and family. Will County Habitat for Humanity (WCHFH) wishes to keep Jim’s spirit alive.

Jim Smith was a dedicated community volunteer and held many positions of leadership during his years of service to Will County; including one of WCHFH’s dedicated appraisers. Jim’s welcoming personality, giving spirit, and willingness to help others made him special to all who knew him.

WCHFH is elated to honor Jim through a Memorial Build that will take place in Joliet, on 419 High Street. Jim's wife Jan has graciously donated this property in memory of Jim, where volunteers across Will County will join together in support of the James V. Smith Memorial Build in honor of his name. The home that will be constructed will provide a family in need a decent, safe and affordable place to call home.

Jim was a dedicated Rotarian. His wife Jan has talked about the many trips they had taken, where she believes that Jim was the only one to vacation and still fulfill his obligation to meet as a Rotarian. Some of Jim's many stops to Rotary Clubs while vacationing include: Vienna, Paris, and Italy!!

The funds from this year’s Applied Underwriters Executive Golf Invitational are to help fund the James V. Smith Memorial Build in Joliet, IL. Jan Smith, Jim's widow, has generously provided the land donation at 419 High St. Joliet, IL, to get the project started.
